The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) Vision Zero team has developed a first version of an improvement plan for Lakeside Avenue. This project aims to enhance safety and accessibility along this important corridor. Funded by the Transportation Levy and the District 3 Project Fund, the plan focuses on reducing traffic violations and pedestrian risks and improving the experience for all. The Leschi Community Council is gathering community feedback to shape the final design. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to share their thoughts by Tuesday, August 25th.
The SDOT Vision Zero team will participate in a Leschi Community Council meeting on September 2nd at 7pm at Grace United Methodist Church to discuss the plan in detail.
Overview of the Lakeside Ave Improvement Plan
The Lakeside Avenue corridor serves a diverse group of users including pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and public transit riders. The Vision Zero team’s plan targets key safety issues identified through data analysis and community input.
The plan proposes specific changes such as curb extensions, improved crosswalks, and traffic calming measures. These improvements aim to create a safer, more comfortable environment for everyone using Lakeside Avenue.
How the Community Can Provide Feedback
Community input is crucial to ensure the plan meets local needs and concerns. The Leschi Community Council has set up a feedback form where residents can share their opinions on the proposed changes.
Filling out the feedback form is simple and takes only a few minutes. The deadline to submit responses is Tuesday, August 25th. This timeline allows the Vision Zero team to review comments and incorporate them into the plan before the September 2nd community meeting.
